Thistle Wind Partners recently joined First Minister John Swinney, Energy Minister Stephen Gethins and industry leaders from across Scotland at an energy roundtable hosted in partnership with Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce. The discussion came at a pivotal moment for Scotland's energy sector, as uncertainty surrounding the North Sea oil and gas industry continues to affect businesses, workers and communities.
The roundtable provided an important opportunity to discuss how Scotland can navigate this period of change while building a resilient, sustainable and prosperous energy economy.
For Thistle Wind Partners, the discussion reinforced both the scale of the opportunity and the challenges facing Scotland's offshore wind sector. Realising this potential, however, requires more than ambition. It depends on stable, long-term policy, continued investment in ports, infrastructure and supply chains, and a regulatory environment that gives businesses the confidence to invest in Scotland.
Scotland is well placed to lead the global offshore wind industry. With world-class natural resources, decades of energy expertise and a highly skilled workforce, the foundations are already in place. The next step is ensuring the right policy framework exists to unlock investment and accelerate delivery.
We welcome the Scottish Government's continued engagement with industry and its recognition of the important role offshore wind can play in Scotland's future. As the energy transition gathers pace, collaboration between governments, developers, supply chains and local communities will be essential to ensuring Scotland captures the full economic and environmental benefits of offshore wind.
The conversations at this roundtable were an important step, but they must now be matched by action. By working together to provide policy certainty, invest in infrastructure and support innovation, Scotland can secure a thriving offshore wind sector that delivers jobs, economic growth and clean energy for decades to come.
