Thistle Wind Partners was delighted to support an inspiring day of STEM activities in Stonehaven, organised by Aberdeen Science Centre.
As a sponsor of the event, we were proud to support an opportunity that brought science, technology, engineering and mathematics to life for young people and families in the local community. This well attended event welcomed around 200 members of the public.
STEM education and engagement has an important role to play in developing the skills and interests that will shape Scotland’s future workforce. This is particularly relevant to our Bowdun project within the renewable sector, where a diverse range of skills and expertise will be needed to support Scotland’s transition to a low-carbon future.
For us, supporting STEM is about more than encouraging young people to study individual subjects. It is about creating opportunities for them to explore, ask questions, develop their confidence and understand how STEM can connect to real-world challenges and exciting careers.
The renewable energy industry offers opportunities across a wide range of disciplines, from engineering and environmental science to project development, communications, economics and community engagement. Events such as this are a valuable way of helping young people discover the breadth of possibilities available to them.
It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm and curiosity of those attending in Stonehaven. Creating positive experiences around STEM from an early age can help inspire the next generation to consider how their interests and skills could contribute to the future of Scotland’s energy system.
